DO YOU OFFER A CERTIFICATION?

Yes, you will get multiple certificates as there are multiple courses and we are CPD accredited so you can be display it on LinkedIn and it can contribute to maintaining any professional qualifications you may have. But know this, a certificate is not nearly as useful as your ability to effectively discuss your Excel skills on your CV/Resume and in an interview. First of all  no one teaches the stuff I teach anywhere. I’m the only one, most of my six figure professionals who know what I know are still working, enjoying their careers and making lots of money. Here’s the kicker…so am I! That’s right I am still a corporate professional as we speak! I just happen to have a deep passion for teaching other professionals so I find time for it.

As for learning from largely from free resources most people who take that route don’t ever follow through and learn because there is no structure, accountability or worse, the information is all from people who had mediocre and unsuccessful careers hence they have time to build big channels because they gave up on their careers. 

Sure I dabble in a little YouTube video making, but just a little. The prime reason these people create big Youtube channels is to be able to turn YouTube into a passive revenue stream. If they want more earnings they have to pump out more and more content. The problem with this is that in order to create more content they start creating things that are frankly useless and a waste of time, they make everything look beautiful and it might look nice but it’s a waste of time in the professional world. They start to explore every nook and cranny of Excel and I can tell you first hand that every six figure professional I’ve worked with finds this thing hilarious and ridiculous. You only have to know a few things in Excel but to a deep level to ultimately do great analysis, summarisation and automation. These videos often make you think you are missing out by not knowing x,y or z function in Excel but it’s rarely the case.

Big YouTubers aren't accessible, they don't care about your results, they are focused on getting big views. 

If you want serious results in your career then take yourself seriously and find people who have a track records of getting serious results and will actively guide you.

DO I NEED TO BE ABLE TO AUTOMATE?

Being professionals ourselves, we are watching a major shift right now, work will require you to handle higher and higher volumes of data. In fact corporate jobs are rapidly evolving, and those with good data and automation skills will stand out and have their pick of the best jobs.

DO I NEED PIVOT TABLES?

For the right people Pivot Tables should not be ignored

From my 15+ years of using Excel in major organisations, my rule of thumb is that if you are regularly working with mid-sized data sets (more than 5000 rows x 15-20 columns) then you should strongly consider Pivot Tables to summarise your data.

DO I NEED POWER QUERY?

If you are a casual user of Excel then no. But if you are a more serious data user or aspire to be such as an analyst (Data Analyst, MI Analyst), a Business Intelligence Developer/Analyst/Consultant, data science professional or any other professional like an Accountant, PMO, Marketer who deals with lots of messy data then Power Query can be a game changer and can achieve a lot without resorting to VBA. It can save you so much time and make the process of analysis and reporting seamless.

If you are getting data from various sources such as databases, Azure, SharePoint, the web, Facebook, Sales force etc, then Power Query makes this incredibly easy!

ARE THESE SKILLS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE? SO, IF I AM OLDER, IS IT LATE FOR ME?

No! In fact the opposite is true. If you have significant experience and knowledge in your field and you can combine that with a stronger data / automation skill set, well then you are going to become invaluable to your company. Your experience plus your newfound data / automation skills will have you creating analysis and building insights that colleagues with less experience may pick up on. I work with many colleagues in their 60’s and they are invaluable folks.
